alrighty, i just thought i'd post a few of em up, some are old, some are new....but remember, i'm no great poet haha... i just wrote some stuff that came to mind, and its not all serious either, though they do have deeper meaning behind them then what they seem to have at face value...sooo...yep :p Please let me know what ya think of em though, and if you'd like me to explain the meanings let me know too...but anyways! poetry is about expressing yourself so...the expression of myself isn't always deeply engaging or incredibly artistic :D
An Idiot's Pursuit
I once asked a bird "What is the meaning of life?"
It flicked its beak
and flew away.
(I always admired them for their flight)
I once asked a man "What is the meaning of life?"
He said "Why you ask me?"
and he went back to his beer.
(I thought certainly Men would have to be right)
I once asked a bear "What is the meaning of life?"
It just growled
and ate me.
(I guess I thought he couldn't bite)
Then I asked the Devil in Hell "What was the meaning of life?"
He just laughed
and told me "If you knew, then you wouldn't be here"
(God, I wish I had sight)

Away
Crying from fear
feeling alone
You gently wipe the tears
from my eyes and speak a comforting tone
saying only, "I'm here"
and flash an assuring smile.
You pick me up in your arms
and hold me tight
and carry me
away.
Crying from hurt
feeling abused
by my side you patiently assert -
by your voice I'm renewed-
saying only, "I'm here"
and flash an assuring smile.
You calm my mind, ease the pain
and you lovingly carry me
and take me
away.
Crying from joy - a smile on my face -
feeling so loved
You tightly encircle me in your warm embrace
and laugh with me - and all Heaven above
envies us -
saying only "I'll always be here"
and flash your assuring smile.
You and those words are all I'll ever need
as the curtain drops around us
and I never want to see you go
away.
In honor of our good friend coffee...here's this!
Coffee
Swirl of black
in a pale little cup
whirls of heat
floating up
into heavy eyes that crack
open at the first sip that's sweet
putting back the morning blues
and a thousand weary thoughts
for another day.
alrighty, thanks for readin, peace!
