Alatar nodded, and replied, "Good. There is one task, however. Curmaar was not one of us, but a man of the Haradrim. Even though his family is dead, he deserves to lie at rest in his fatherland. I will need a hero or two to carry his body to Harad for burial."
The premise of this RPG is this journey. Anyone who played in Assassin's Shadow may play their previous character, as long as that character is not in Mithrilstone-because this RPG is taking place at the same time. Anyone else can join in as a wandering warrior met along the way, or as one of the Haradrim.
This RPG will not be a huge epic RPG, but rather a somewhat humble tale of a simple quest. No huge armies, no incredibly epic demigods dueling...but still fun.
Hope you enjoy! I'll get the game thread started when we get enough players...

Okay. Also, if you want to keep your character in Ms, you can make a character in the escort. Most likely, there's going to be Rangers going along with it. Which fits in with Curamir-he's most likely the leader of the escort in this case.

Name: Elnar
Age: almost 3,000
Race: Half elf (looks more human then elf)
Gender: Male
Profession: Dunedain
Appearance: Golden brown hair cut to his shoulders. Sturdy build and tall.
History: Elnar is the youngest of four children. Around the age of sixteen, his father was killed by orcs. Soon sfter his mother departed to the Undying Lands. After his brothers' deaths, he went with his sister to Mirkwood, then to Lothlorien.A few years later, Elnar and Acalewia parted ways. In Rivendell, he sharpened his healing skill under the guidence of Elrond.
About a thousand years ago, he foolishly fought against a corrupted elf. The battle nearly killed him and left him under the Shadow for three days. He never told anyone what had happened.
Towards the end of the War of the Ring, Elnar traveled the Paths of the Dead with a group of Dunedain led by Aragorn. He never forgot that experance.
Recently, Elnar fled South when a madness overtook the villiage of Bree. He returned with two compainions. He is now enroute to Harad, to bury one companion, Cumaar...

Curub has the RPG open for anyone who wishes to join. The characters from AS are in it but, as our loremaster states in the first post, you can play a Ranger in the escort, a wanderer, or a Haradrim.
Correct me, Loremaster, if I'm wrong. :D

Unless Curubethion says otherwise, you can count me in. Here is the bio for the character:
Name: Ulfast son of Lomin
Age: 35
Appearance: Average build and height, dark eyes, mustache and beard; nothing distinguishing about him
Race: Human
Profession: Wandering Haradaric tribesman/herder, sometimes raider and warrior

Excellent! Actually, Udu, a character registration like yours is exactly what I was hoping for! I'd really like some more people in here...by no means is this excluded to non-Assassin's Shadow people.
You're also welcome to be in Mithrilstone. It's only begun, actually. Right now, we've got a need for dwarven colonists of Moria (4th Age), or you could just be a character who pops in to say hello. (and hopefully sticks around for an adventure! :D ) Currently, there's characters in Lorien, and near Moria.
Okay, I'm just about ready to start. How about everyone else?
Name: Atarion
Race: Gondorian Human
Age: 25
Appearance: Medium build, fairly tall. Blue eyes and darkish hair. Wears Ranger garb...you all know what that looks like, right? :p
Profession: Ranger-in-training
Personality: Has a penchant for getting into trouble, and sometimes won't obey completely. However, if he matures, he could be one of the strongest-willed men in Gondor.
History: Grew up in Minas Tirith...father was a saddlemaker. Hung around with the Rangers whenever they showed up in MT, and finally, when he was 19, decided to join them. He's gone through 6 years of training, and is almost ready to become a full-fledged Ranger. This last mission is the final step.
I think that, since Curamir is Faramir's son, he'll captain the escort.

:D Well, it's slightly more complicated than that, I'm afraid...one does not simply walk into Mor-er, Harad, you know. Tolkien didn't give us the name of one city or village in Harad that I know of. How do you find your way around this place? We need a good guide.
Basically, we're doing a lot of making-up. When I'm up to it, I'll post a bunch of names you can use for cities and villages.
Don't worry-I'm still around! I was away over the weekend, and yesterday there was a big storm, so something was wrong with the DSL connection. I'll get something cooking right away. Now that our escort has a guide, we're set.
Note to all: I'd really like for this RPG to feature lots and lots of character development instead of mucho, mucho action, so we should all try to flesh out every character as much as we can. This should be fun!
Udukhaturz
04-26-2006, 12:02 AM
Curubethion, I was thinking a lot of place names will have to be made up since Tolkien doesn't give any. I have looked at a few MERP maps of Harad, and they make up places, too. You might want to look for that on Google if it is any help.
As much as I like action, I like character development, too. That is what I was planning for the tribesmen. He will probably do a lot of thinking out in the lonely wastes.
This RPG sounds like fun. I am looking forward to it.

A question for Curubethion. Do you have a preference about names for Haradric characters as to whether they are Quenya, Sindarin or modern or ancient Near Eastern names? I would like to know the answer before I start planning for any player generated additions to Ulfang's Haradric band of warriors.
If anyone has any suggestions or ideas about any interactions between the Haradrim and the rest of the players, either write to me here or by PM. Thanks.

Here are sites for male and female names:
http://www.sudairy.com/arabic/masc.html

Out of respect, I suggest avoiding any names that have religious connotations. There are a lot of just general names, however, that would be good.

Curubethion, is there any particular direction that you want the native guide to take the deceased? There is the City of the Corsairs to the West, then to the Southwest there are the Gray Mountains along the coast. To the east is semi-arid land and sooner or later Khand. To the South, that might be something like modern day Africa.
Curubethion
05-22-2006, 08:51 PM
Here's all that was written about Curmaar's history. So basically anything's open.
"I am a warrior of the South," he began, "born to a man who had fled from Sauron's darkness in the War. When I was a young man, I came home to find my parents dead, an arrow in each of them. Its feathers were black and grey; the work of one they name The Assasin. He was the hired pawn of the tribe chieftan, but I suspect he is doing darker work. Perhaps there is a great danger to Gondor itself."
Man, there's a ton of tension going on! The question is: will it erupt?
Udukhaturz
05-23-2006, 12:47 AM
Curubethion, according to my calculations using Karen Wyn Fondstad's "Atlas of Middle-earth," it is 500 miles in a straight shot from the crossing of the Harad Road over the River Harnen to the Gray Mountains just southwest of Umbar. It looks like a long trip to find the Abiza tribe. :D

Lady Willow Rose
06-20-2006, 11:01 PM
:D
Nessa is tricky. Never behaves like you expect.
Acalewia
06-21-2006, 01:14 PM
No kidding!
Waits impatently for 90 seconds
Lady Willow Rose
06-22-2006, 01:14 AM
I think we need something to happen.
Something that'll distract us from carrying the dead guy home.
But what?
*sighs*
Acalewia
06-22-2006, 01:31 PM
It may be time for 'Abel to make an entrance ;)
Lady Willow Rose
06-22-2006, 07:19 PM
That could work.
Finally, someone Nessa doesn't know! :D
Acalewia
06-23-2006, 01:28 PM
Amazing! :D
How's that for a twist ;)
Curubethion
06-23-2006, 03:48 PM
I want the "lol" smiley from Atharon!!
I'll have to settle with " :D "
Lady Willow Rose
06-23-2006, 10:42 PM
That is quite a twist there!
Good going, Acally!
Acalewia
06-24-2006, 10:42 AM
Well, thank you.
Looks like Cumaar was related to the chief. They must have had a new chief since Cumaar fled Harad and the Assasin
Lady Willow Rose
06-24-2006, 01:50 PM
*nods*
You had such a good twist, I couldn't resist adding my own. ;)
rohirrim TR
06-26-2006, 06:23 PM
hmm you know if Nessa leaves again they'll either be suspicious, -remember Hluor knows that a rider from kugid has followed us- or they won't know what to think... interesting, very good... :)
umm who is going write stuff for this wacked out 'abiza' tribe?
Acalewia
06-26-2006, 07:30 PM
Good question. How wacked out is the Abiza tribe?
Lady Willow Rose
06-26-2006, 07:38 PM
Well, I think they're pretty wacked.
Wanting to kill someone because they're prettier than someone else...
Eh.
And Nessa is all lost and confused.
She just wants to go on with her life
Acalewia
06-26-2006, 08:18 PM
*scraches head*
Nessa's grandmother cursed her with ichy feet?
Lady Willow Rose
06-26-2006, 08:35 PM
Yep.
It's a long story
And if anyone could get it out of her... it would be a certain half-Elf ;)
Acalewia
06-26-2006, 09:11 PM
Of course a certan lady don't know he is half elf.
Lady Willow Rose
06-26-2006, 11:39 PM
So, it's a secret for a secret. :D
rohirrim TR
06-28-2006, 05:06 PM
Good question. How wacked out is the Abiza tribe?
I'm thinkin that they're wacked enough to attack our band of merry men as a test, to see how strong they are. but thats just an idea. if someone has a better one let me know.
baby steps to 90 seconds, baby steps to 90 seconds, baby steps to 90 seconds. * pant, pant* :p
Lady Willow Rose
06-28-2006, 07:03 PM
I like that idea, rTR. Sounds like a splendid opportunity.
Acalewia
06-29-2006, 01:45 PM
I'm thinkin that they're wacked enough to attack our band of merry men as a test, to see how strong they are. but thats just an idea. if someone has a better one let me know.
That can be arranged. Tomorrow.
Lady Willow Rose
07-03-2006, 01:03 PM
Um....
I'm sorry but what the heck just happened?
Acalewia
07-03-2006, 04:31 PM
Who just ran off into the desert?
Enlighten us, Jammi.
Lady Willow Rose
07-03-2006, 04:33 PM
I'm very confused
jammi567
07-03-2006, 04:53 PM
Abel.
Lady Willow Rose
07-03-2006, 04:58 PM
'Abel is a girl
Acalewia
07-03-2006, 05:00 PM
One: it's 'Abel. Two 'Abel is female. and Three 'Abel is not the type to run off just because some crazy woman has a knife to her throut. I should know since I created her.
No hard feeling, jammi
jammi567
07-03-2006, 05:03 PM
Ooooops, my mistake, i'll just delete that post then.
Lady Willow Rose
07-03-2006, 05:09 PM
No harm done, dear.
Acalewia
07-03-2006, 05:26 PM

Acalewia
07-06-2006, 01:12 PM
Ok guys. I'm gonna let you know before the story continues, Elnar has a lot of secrets that will be revealed later. Renvan is one of them, in case you are wondering.
Lady Willow Rose
07-06-2006, 07:22 PM
And who shall he be revealing them to? ;)
Acalewia
07-07-2006, 02:35 PM
He's not going to reveal them to just anyone ;)
I think 'Abel is going to leave Nessa alone for a little bit. At least while Elnar's in eyeshot
Lady Willow Rose
07-07-2006, 09:38 PM
Well, that's awfully nice of her ;)
Acalewia
07-10-2006, 04:53 PM
And there's the fact that she has just seen Elnar heal for the past two hours. ;)
Lady Willow Rose
07-10-2006, 08:07 PM
True...
Nessa gets testy when she's concerned. :D
Acalewia
07-10-2006, 09:05 PM
Which is why she didn't notice Elnar is a healer
Lady Willow Rose
07-10-2006, 10:55 PM
Yeah, she was too focused
Acalewia
07-11-2006, 12:59 PM
Indeed.
Btw, where's rTR? I haven't seen him lately.
I know Curub should be back tomorrow.
Lady Willow Rose
07-12-2006, 10:05 PM
Nice one, rTR

Curubethion
07-12-2006, 10:12 PM
I'm still here...but I've kind of fallen out of this RPG. I actually lost a bit of the storyline. :o
rohirrim TR
07-13-2006, 05:43 PM
I just got back myself, had a week long mission trip in Mexico, then had a crazy work schedule, looks like acally and LWR can handle things though ;) I tried to keep Atarion in the story, maybe i'll post with him again.
BTW Curub, OOT, have you heard the new Switchfoot song? you can download off of their site, a friend played it for me yesterday and it sounds the the 'old school' switchfoot we all know and love, I think the title is like "daylight to dusk" or something like that. the new album is supossed to come out in like November IIRC.
Curubethion
07-13-2006, 07:16 PM
Ah, yes...that would be "Daylight to Break." It's a good song! A few touches of the new SF, a few touches of the old. (BTW, I've gotten Legend of Chin, awesome CD!)
I'm fine with you posting as Atarion...just remember to keep him a hothead who's got authority problems! ;)
rohirrim TR
07-14-2006, 04:57 PM
righto :) err hot head yeah that would be this smilie I guess " "
yeah, I still need the legend of Chin album. the only time I can find it is in a 3 pack and I only need the one album   .

yeah, I still need the legend of Chin album. the only time I can find it is in a 3 pack and I only need the one album   .
Try Sound and Spirit...a mail-order music thing. That's where I got my copy.
But anyway... :D
How close does everyone think this is to the end?
Everyone's characters (working on this list...)
Atarion-
Nessa- + :(
Bayhas-
Elnar- :)
How am I doing so far?
Lady Willow Rose
07-15-2006, 05:51 PM

Nessa is more a combo of:  and :(
Curubethion
07-15-2006, 07:14 PM

Acalewia
07-24-2006, 06:31 PM
I'm assuming that was not 'Abel's father.
rohirrim TR
07-25-2006, 10:36 AM
No.
I'm thinking that were going to get involved in the internal politics of this tribe. Abal is not Cumaars last relative. Cumaars family was the former line of Chieftains but this guy (who is yet to be named *hint hint* ;) :p ) made a power grab somehow and took over.
If you guys have any ideas about details on how this might have happened it would help. :)
Lady Willow Rose
07-25-2006, 10:12 PM
Not the slightest idea
Yet
Acalewia
08-04-2006, 01:11 PM
You Know, I though 'Abel was the chief's daughter
And rTR, I never said she was Cumaar's only living relative
Lady Willow Rose
08-04-2006, 07:35 PM
I guess she was the chief's daughter but then the chief was murdered
Acalewia
08-05-2006, 10:13 AM
And 'Abel had to flee? Or something like that
Stupid Rule!!!!!
Acalewia
08-14-2006, 08:07 PM
Glad to see I didn't miss anything here :D
Lady Willow Rose
08-14-2006, 10:13 PM
Heh, no kidding
rohirrim TR
08-20-2006, 02:08 PM
hey guys, i'll leave the gory details to y'all because I no longer have time to devote to this rpg, you guys can divide up my characters however you like, thanks for being awesome. :) :)
Lady Willow Rose
08-20-2006, 02:16 PM
Bye, rTR :(
Acalewia
08-20-2006, 06:26 PM

Lady Willow Rose
08-20-2006, 06:37 PM
We can take it.
We're tough!
Curubethion
08-20-2006, 10:25 PM
Well, if I can get back to speed with all of the plot threads, I might be able to hop back in. What page should I begin reading on?
Lady Willow Rose
08-20-2006, 11:01 PM
*face/palm*
Oh, crud
Acalewia
08-21-2006, 04:04 PM
Good question
rohirrim TR
10-06-2006, 09:52 AM
Good question

Acalewia
10-06-2006, 07:59 PM
Good point. I think Curub got bored or is really busy
Lady Willow Rose
10-06-2006, 08:32 PM

Acalewia
