Most of you have heard of the show about an obsessive compulsive detective named Adrian Monk. It all started when his wife, Trudie, was murdered by an unknown person with a car bomb. Ever since, his phobias have increased and his compulsions are stronger. His wife's death is the only crime he hasn't been able to solve. His caretaker was Sharona Fleming, a former nurse, but after she left to remarry her ex-husband Natalie Teeger came along to help Monk along.
The show is now in its 4th season.
Any comments? :)

Any comments? :) Well, I'd have to say that some of my favorite episodes of Monk would have to be Mr. Monk and the Kid (but the ending is so sad), Mr. Monk Goes to the Wedding, and Mr. Monk Goes to the Fashion Show. But I like all of the episodes I've seen. :D If only I could see the ones I haven't seen yet...
Has anyone read the Monk novel? It's sooo good! It's called Mr. Monk Goes to the Firehouse, just in case you want to look for it at a bookstore or a library. :)

If you two are sisters, do you just - not live together, or something? So you have to moot like this to be able to communicate with each other? Which is cool, I'm just really curious. Are you twins? :) The Thain/Meriadoc mystery continues... :D
My Dad loves the show Monk. He likes to rent the season DVDs and watch entire blocks of Monk. I get really tired of it after an episode or two, but Dad thinks its aces.

If you mean Mr. Monk and the Fashion Show, then yeah. I never really got the former/latter thing.

So - so you each have a computer in your separate bedromms, and you both go online at the same time, and one sister writes something on her computer in her own bedroom, and then you - the other sister, immediately answer her posts, and that's what you two do? How come you two are never on at the same simultaneous time? And the reason why I say twins is 'cause you two have the same exact style, voice, and characteristics. Like twins, really CLOSE twins. You're a trip, Thain/Meriadoc! :D ;) It's all good; your secret's safe with me - or, us, that is. :) ;) :D
Have you seen the one where Monk and his posse go to New York City; that episode stands out. I guess I don't really recall the details of most of the individual episodes. Even though I have sat & watched dozens of these shows with my Dad, I can't seem to really commit much of them to memory. There was one about a fake psychic, I remember that one was cool. I think that's the one where Monk says to help him find a small pebble. Remember the one?

Monk is currently looking for a 6-fingered man, who hired the man who built the car bomb which was set off by Trudie's cell phone. The bomb-builder told Monk this (Mr. Monk Goes to Manhattan)as he was dying from kidney disease.
Bomb-builder (I forget his name): You were the husband?
Monk: I am the husband.

Yes! Now I DO remember that show, because of the bit about him finally facing the guy who bombed his wife. And in the hospital, when he sees him face to face, he has pity on him because that's how kind his wife would have been. Something like, he stopped his morphine drip, so the guy was in terrible pain, but then said "This is the woman you killed, turning it back on," or something to that effect.

Monk is very unpredictable sometimes. I wonder what would happen if he met the killer face to face?
Of course, that's not going to be an episode any time soon, because then the case would be solved and Monk cured! There's going to at least be a season 5 and 6! :)

Actually, there are only 2 episodes left this season! This is "Season 4.5" (4.0 was before Christmas, and there were no new Monk's during the Olympics).

Sharona was Monk's first assistant. She used to be a nurse. She basically handed him wipes, and made sure he didn't freak out.
Natalie did basically the same thing, except she was never a nurse. She became his assistant after Sharona left Monk to re-marry her ex-husband.

Mr. Monk meets Dale the Whale
Monk: I know who did it.
Sharona: We haven't started yet! Come on!
Monk: It was Professor Plum in the dining room with a rope.
[Benjy pulls out the answer card and looks up in surprise.]
Benjy: He's right!
Monk: We played this game last year. I remember what cards everybody was holding, and how they were put away, and just now, I was watching how Benjy shuffled…
---
[Sharona answers a phone call from Captain Stottlemeyer.]
Sharona: Oh, well, actually, ah, we were just finishing up a pretty big case. It was this nasty homicide, um… this woman was found murdered in her dining room with a rope…
--------------------------
Mr. Monk Goes Back To School
Stottlemeyer: Well, I guess this is your worst nightmare, a crime scene on a rooftop.
Monk: No, it's not my worst nightmare. It's my fourth worst. No, wait, fifth. No, fourth. Fourth or fifth, I didn't bring the list with me.

For school I had to write a contrast paper, so I decided to do one about Monk and Columbo. I'm also doing a compare paper about them which I'll post once I finish writing it. ;)
Contrasting Adrian Monk and Lt. Columbo
Adrian Monk and Lt. Columbo, though both TV detectives with unique methods of solving crime, have many differences. Working as a private investigator, Monk solves crimes, though sometimes he gets distracted and ends up cleaning rather than doing his job. Monk, a former police officer, must have everything neat and perfectly organized. For example, Adrian always wears pressed suits with his shirts buttoned all the way to the top. He always has wipes with him in case he has to shake someone's hand. Messy and unorganized, Lieutenant Columbo tends to wear rumpled, ill-fitting clothes. Also, unlike Monk, Columbo is a police officer, and doesn't spend time worrying about uneven shelves.
They also have different ways of solving crime. Monk has an excellent memory. He remembers minor details at the crime scene, which helps him to solve the cases he works on. He uses evidence to convict his suspects, and doesn't ask them many questions. Although he usually works in San Fransisco, Monk will occasionally travel to different cities if needed. On the other hand, Columbo works in Los Angeles. He usually questions suspects until they confess. Occasionally, he forgets what he plans to ask them, something Monk would never do. Despite their differences, both Columbo and Monk are exceptional detectives.
So, what do you think? :)

Who is this Lt. Columbo? Is he related to Lenny Briscoe?

He's a TV detective on a show called 'Columbo'. I think the show aired in the 70's and maybe the 80's. There were some more recent ones, but Peter Falk (The dude who played Columbo) looks really old.

Thanks! I can't wait until July when the next season will start. :) :) :)

Mr. Monk Goes to Vegas
Spock, you've seen this one, right? Remember the song Stottlemeyer say in the Casino? "Ain't No Sunshine"? My mom, Pip, and I heard that while in a store and started cracking up! That song is forever doomed! :p

Yeah, I loved that when he started singing it. At least I enjoyed it more than when they had that idiot partner start a band. Monks new season begins in a couple of weeks; looking forward to it.

What, Randy? He started that band in high school! You gotta admit: "Don't need no mustache" is funny. :p
A couple of weeks? I thought it wasn't supposed to start until July! Do you mean that they're playing the 4th season again?

Great. I thought so after posting. However, Sea of Souls on BBCA does start later this month. Great show if you can get it.

When do you think the 4th season of Monk will come out on DVD? My friend bets that it'll be out "late April, early May". I think it's closer to late May or longer.

These are desperate times, Natalie.

EDIT:
Who the hell is Harold Krenshaw? A multi-phobic patient of Doctor Kroger and rival of Monk?

Monk is a show that is easy to get obsessed with. :p
(Another quote from Mr. Monk and the Garbage Strike that TB talked about):
The people woke up at 5 am and couldn't go back to sleep because it smelled like a buffalo had died in their closet.
Harold Krenshaw, who has appeared in previous episodes, is indeed what you describe him as. ;)
I can't believe that Season 5.5 isn't until January! :(

Hey, I said I was into it, I didn't say that I've seen many shows yet. (In fact, I didn't start watching it regularly until "Mr. Monk and the Garbage Strike", and even then I only seem able to catch the new ones.)
Was the finale any good? I was busy and I forgot about it.

Yes, very good. And just so everyone knows, there should be a Monk marathon on September 8, starting at 6 a.m. Unless the schedule on the USA Network website is wrong, that is. ;)

All too soon the season is over and we must wait until January for a new seasons episode. I can remember when the season just started in mid September; this is not progress, :(

Well, November 17 there was Mr. Monk Meets His Dad.
Adrian: It's touching.
Jack (Monk): I know, it is.
Adrian: No, the food. It's touching.
AND there will be a special episode December 22! Mr. Monk and the Leper will first be shown in black and white, and then in color. Then, viewers can go and vote for which one they like better. :D
Dang, I feel like I'm advertising.

I think the black and white will make it look Sherlock Holmes-y, but in color, you can see the entire cuteness of Natalie's outfits. ;)

:D I haven't seen 2 or 3 Monks, still. I recommend: Mr. Monk and the Candidate (Pilot); Mr. Monk Takes a Vacation, Mr. Monk and the Airplane, and Mr. Monk Goes to Mexico (Just because they're plain fuuuuuuunny!); Mr. Monk and the Red Herring (introduction to Natalie); and shows with Natalie in them. :p :D
