Ben´s timeline is obviously wrong. Entmoot has just reached his first year!! Check the date of thread "Let´s talk about Dune..." in the General Fantasy forum: 1/20/99!! uhh, wait, that makes me the first member of Entmoot... :D

Something's just not right. That forum wasn't even around when this place first came into being. Also, two threads were supposedly deleted on the 19th, but that didn't happen. Something just isn't right. Probably Y2K ;)

No, of course not. The board turned four (months) on the 18th. :)

Ezboard never responded to my message about the error. I guess it doesn't really matter, since we're all in 2000 again, and it did get us a new member who followed the post over here :)

I forgot to bring this up!! Hehehe. Anyway, the good thing about that bug is that it introduced juntel to Entmoot! (Just think how many fewer hours you'd spend on Entmoot if not for him? :p ))

The bleary-eyed little hobbit, typing at work since the boss was away and his work was done, wearily salutes juntel in grudging admiration of his debate skills.
I don't know how the rest of you dealt with Y2K but here, we actually had some minor problems with dates and such on the computers at work.
I had bought provisions from discount stores and shopping clubs for months in advance, reasoning that it would make a great hurricane stash (always a good thing on the Gulf Coast) and that if nothing came of it (as was increasingly obvious) I could give it to our church.
Sure enough, we loaded the church pantry down with canned hams, sardines, canned veggies, canned fruits, big sacks of rice and beans and flour and sugar and powdered milk. (This was very timely, since the pantry was empty in February and we often have folks to feed!) We kept a few cans at home, and I still have some canned corn and tomato sauce, I think. I finished the last can of kippered herring the other day. We had salmon patties from some Y2K canned salmon last week. Still have lots of seasonings.
Oddly enough, if a hurricane hit right now (and we watched TS Helene yesterday) I wouldn't quite have enough on hand to deal with two weeks of interupted supply!
Or an unexpected party!

lol! I'm afraid I was a skeptic... at least of all the hysteria. My church has always advised its members to be prepared for a major disaster at any moment. We had already had food storage for a year in our basement before we even heard of Y2K.

for Y2K over here, all that happened was some drunk ran a car into the power distribution station at about 12:02, so almost half of Dallas blacked out! my neighborhood had an anarchy party...we set off many many fireworks...

I was with all my friends at my home, we were 60 or so... The Y2K bug for me was to clean up after... it took me the week long! (Well, we DID rock&roll all night and party everyday... :p )
