View Full Version : What do you think degraded the 4th movie?
The Witch-King of Angmar

I think all the references to Polyjuice potion being made again ruined it. If viewers hadn't read the book, they shouldn't have been given a chance to work out the end...

i think the film was badly made genaraly i must have been so confusing to everyone who had not read the book .
WHAT?! I think it was the best adaptation from book to film so far in this series, and also the best film viewed as a film without thinking about it as a series.
And I can't say I feel the polyjuice ruined anything. If people haven't read the book, would they known what Polyjuice potion does? I think not. Maybe if they read book 2. Some really thoughtfull people might have pondered it out, with Moody looking after his flasks all the time but I don't feel it ruined anything

i don't think it was ruined. this is what i think: good movie. good book-movie, maybe. but good movie.

It certainly wasn't ruined! I might have preferred a few things to be different, but I loved this movie.

it was a good movie, and the book was a good book...as a book movie, it was decent...

Well, they had to leave out the sphinx. The entire maze was different. It was pretty freaky. Probably even scarier than the book maze. I still liked it. I think it was kind of cool. It would have been nice to see it more like the one in the book with the Spider, Skrewts, and Sphinx though. :(

I was glad they left out the sphinx. It probably would have looked dumb (sphinxes are pretty awkward), and it would have slowed down the pace of the movie at a pivotal time.

i would've loved the sphinx, but maybe with more and cleverer riddles...

The movie was quite bad. I think the feeling of being rushed through scenes is what really killed it.

My husband, who won't read the books, was thoroughly confused and has already announced he has no interest in seeing any more Potter movies. I thought the movie was OK and understand that a lot needed to be cut from such a long book to hold down the movie time. But there's much from the books that I missed.

As I've said before, I must await the dvd version but meanwhile, I really appreciate reading all your inputs...personally books contain so much more because we create in our minds while movies can only do so much, even with cgi. I've watched over and over again the first movies and anxiously await seeing the latest.

What bothered me the most was the optimstic atmosphere in the end - which should be very pessimistic, the dark lord rising, etc. - and the idiotic "dances" of the girls from Beauxbatons and guys from Durmstrang.

I think this was actually the best adaptation from Book to film, and only things that were cut were things that wern't relivent to future films unlike in the last one.
I think they had to make the end of the film a little more opptamistic to make it appeal to non readers of the books remember non readers of the books now need to wait about a year and a half to see the next film and the director had to get them to want to come back to see the next one
the only thing that I thought was weird was Voldemort's age if you add it up in the books he is 54 when he kills Harry's parents so seeing as he got hit "old" body back in GOF his body is 54 years old (he is 68 however) but Ralph fiennes who is 43 and Voldemort in GOF looks between 38 - 45
did anyone else notice this?

i liked tha movie but it seemed really really empty compared to the book. i felt like i was reading the book with 300 pages torn out of it. it just felt.......empty. it needed more.

I loved the movie but they left out so many of Ron's great lines. He really is so funny in the books. And Fred and George, too! They were good but bland compared to how they are in the books.
That's probably the only thing wrong with this movie. It's a pale pale version of an awesome story.
They did spend a bit too much time showing off their stupid CGI dragon, though. I hate it when people have to show off their CGI.

Exactly!
....and the idiotic "dances" of the girls from Beauxbatons and guys from Durmstrang.
Oh, I hated that, too. Why did they make Beauxbatons an all-girls school and Durmstrang an all-boys?
"Parvati sat down on Harry's other side, crossed her arms and legs too, and within
minutes was asked to dance by a boy from Beauxbatons..."
Was a bit pointless...

Plus, isn't one the first to get out of the carriage? He folds out some stairs or something for Madame Maxime. I think that was in the book...
Speaking of Madame Maxime, I didn't like her in very much in the movie.
