For those strategy game people out there (Starcraft, C&C, Civ, etc. :D ), which kind of strategy game do you prefer: Real-Time Strategy (RTS) or Turn-Based Empire-Building (TEBE)? Is this the right forum to post this in??

i like them both... but i miss some of the oldtime TEBE games... civ was real fun but i kinda lost touch with those games... any good ones out these days?

oh ya for sure Battle for middle earth II is coming out aswell it's supposedly based on the early third age... :)

BTW, I'm a "Civvie" for turn-based :) . Oh, and has anyone heard of the Total War series? :)

Yeah...that and Medieval Total War...I love the RTS/Turn-Based split. Civ IV coming out...heard it's really good. brownjenkins, what's TEBE?

Age of Wonders and AoW: Shadow Magic are the two best TBSs created, IMO. Especially AoW, was released in 1999 and still going strong on my comp...Pretty fond of the HoMM-series (loved HoMM II & III) and Rome: Total War as well. When it comes to RTS...played a few of them, the one I used to play the most was Age of Empires 2. Warcraft III had the best campaign I've ever seen in a strategy-game, and AoW: Mythology was pretty fun for a while, but I still prefer TBS.

Turn-Based Empire-Building (TEBE)?

i never tried Age of Wonders, will have to give it a look

Ya Rome: Total war was amazing but I got bored after a about a week, never heard of anything else in the series though...didn't even know it was a series...
