yea, thats probably his most well known work, but he also wrote the time machine and many other short stories.

he was cool because his stuff was actually scientific, not just aliens come and kill peopole blah lasers blah dna blah ufos.

True - in War of the Worlds aliens come and kill people with heat rays. Makes all the difference! :p

I really wish someone would make an authentic film of that book. Would have a fantastic retro look and would be so different to see Victorian weaponry pitted against interplanetary invaders.

I read The Invisible Man which was good, but I know he can do better than that, so I'm going to read the Time Machine and War of the Worlds.

Time Machine was a good story.

I enjoyed the 1960 version of the Time Machine (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0054387/) with Rod Taylor and Yvette Mimieux.

The movie is different from the book (where have I heard that before ? ) but is still enjoyable.

Of all the movie adaptations of H.G. Wells, my favorite one is "First Men In The Moon"! Extremely well done for its time!
