Well it won't be my favorite version, but my 3 year old nephew will probably like it until he's ready for the real thing. :)

This is awesome! I love Veggie Tales.

Here (http://www.zondervan.com/vida/detail.asp?ISBN=0310710189) is a link about it.

How can they not do Moria though? Some highly pivotal events take place in everyone's favourite death-trap mine. Maybe there's just no non-violent way to portray those scenes. (Actually that makes me wonder about all the stuff that will probably be changed, like the epic battles...)

Still, LotR has a good message that could be well adapted to Veggie Tales. (Just replace "Eru" with "God". :D )

I agree - don't know how they're going to portray those events. And if the scenes are left out, what will happen to the story?

Edit: Should have followed the link before answering. Sounds like it will be a VERY loose adaptation. Personally, I think I'd like to go to the Razzberry Forest to get advice from the Trees. :D

Do that for the first sentence of the Sil and it would be:

In the beginnig there was God the One.

:D :D :D

wll, that would be in keeping with previous adaptations, changing story lines and characters for no apparent reason :D

Veggie Tales is really funny! There's a thread somewhere about them. They're computer generated vegetables (see Nurv's link for a piccy) and they retell Bible stories and various other stories to teach things like sharing and not being fearful and things like that. It's really funny - adults love it, too. They always have a Sillly Songs with Larry section that is a blast, with such classics as Everyone has a Water Buffalo, The Cheeseburger Song, Where is My Hairbrush, and things like that. The operatic version of Daniel in the Lion's Den was especially good.

I don't know about the Lord of the Beans thing, tho.

I've watched it and as it turns out it doesn't follow the LOTR plot at all... it's just very LOTRy... But I'll setle for that, for some reson I don't mind big mess ups, it's the small ones that get to me for some reson...

You know, I just could not imagine how they were going to get much of the plot into a little veggie tales movie anyway. Did you think it would be fun for kids to watch?

Good side: Refers (however remotely) to the great and wonderful book The Lord of the Rings. And that makes it worth watching.:)
Bad side: No Merry, Pippin, Sam, Boromir, Faramir, Fredegar, Old Man Willow, Tom Bombidill, Goldberry, Arwen, Eowyn, Theoden, Eomer, Sauron, Mouth of Sauron, Galadriel, Celeborn, Elrond, Glorfindal, Gloin, Denethor, Radagast, Treebeard, Ugluk, the Nazgul, Quickbeam, Sackville-Bagginses, Farmer Maggot, Grip, Fang, Wolf, Beregond, Bergil...You get the point. ;)
And no, I haven't seen it yet.;)

The film is about an hour long.

The main msg is to use your gifts wisely.

The film is loosely based on LOTR with most of the potenially scary frightning stuff toned down for a kids level viewing.

Gandalf is called Randalf
Frodo is called Toto
Bilbo is called Billboy Baggypants
Saruman is Scaryman

other names are similary changed.

I enjoy watching the clay animation. :)

Just to say this, there is a line in the movie like this:"We've had nothing but maggoty bread for three stinking days! I'd love a cookie!"
