I love every single aspect of Tolkien's LOTR, My favourtie place would have to be Rivendell. I love elves and the way they live and their culture, My favourite person/elf/dawf/hobbit ect... would have to be Arwin or Legolas, I love the way Arwin moves, she is so graceful, I also like the way that she gave up immortality to be with her love Aragorn, that is so sweet, I like legolas because he is so calm, even on the brink of a battle he stands his ground cooly and he has such great accuracy! He can fire an arrow and hit almost enything!!! My favourite word is a much easier choice, my favourite word is Entmoot! it is such a cool word! :p :p :p

place: Nargothrond (Himring's pretty neat too, though... I just realised it survived the destruction of Beleriand and have been in a good mood all day... :p )
character: Finrod (Maedhros and Maglor in a distant second and third...)
word: um... anything in Quenya, I suppose.
BTW, Ezora, you spelt "Arwen" wrong. :)
Just remember it's spelt with the e, quite a few feminine Elvish names end like that... Arwen, Earwen, Nerwen... (Lalwen and Rodwen since I can't think of any more famous ones at the moment). It means "maiden". :)

My fave place has to be Bree because it is a realy country place and the folk are suspicious in a funny way. I think Aragorn is amazing because he has a a nasty history but will still look out for his friends.

well my favorite place would have to be Lothlorien, its such a peaceful place with all the Mallorn trees growing and whatnot. My favorite character would be Aragorn, just because he's a real togh guy and awesome with a sword.

My favorite character is Tuor, and especially in contrast with his cousin, Turin. He seems to be much more courteous and wise, and also listens to his fate, and does pretty darn well for himself in the end. Also, imagining him in the armor he finds in the hall by the sea....that's a majestic moment.
The shire is a cool place, but I wonder what the land was like where the Stoors lived.
Favorite word: Oliphant. Try going to the zoo, and saying,"The Oliphants these days just aren't as impressive as they used to be."
Another cool guy is Ulmo, cause he controls the seas.
Taniquetil! the mountain of the eagles, and my true self. Pytt is just an aka for Thorondor, and since I am very smart, Ingoldo, but that is just a formal title, I almost never use it.
Fav character have to be Thorondor. strange. If you need to have a human being, I have to say Turgon.
word, I don't really know.

Favourite person: Feanor, with Turin a close second.
Favourite Place: Kortirion :(
O ancient city on a leaguered hill!
Old Shadows linger in your broken gate,
Your stones are grey, your halls now are still,
Your towers silent in the mists await
Their crumbling end, while through the storeyed elms
The River Gliding leaves these inland realms
And slips between long meadows to the Sea,
Still bearing down by weir and murmuring fall
One day and then another to the Sea;
And slowly thither many days have gone
Since first the Edain built Kortirion.
Favourite Word: Not really sure. But Tolkien sure used lots of cool archaic ones! Wolds and moots and rolling meads....
my favorite person is Fëanor...
Exquisite taste! I trained you well...;) :p

Place: Must be Menegroth.
Beyond the gates wide passages ran down to high halls and chambers far below that were hewn in the living stone, so many and so great that that dwelling was named Menegroth, the Thousand Caves. [...]The pillars of Menegroth were hewn in the likeness of the beeches of Oromë, stock, bought, and leaf, and they were lit with lanterns of gold. The nightingales sang there as in the gardens of Lórien; and there were fountains of silver, and basins of marble, and floors of many-coloured stones. carven figures of beasts and birds there ran upon the walls, or climbed upon the pillars, or peered among the branches entwined with many flowers. And as the years passed Melian and her maidens filled the halls with woven hangings. [...]That was the fairest dwelling of any king that has ever been east of the Sea.
Person: Tough choice. Overal I think I stick to Aragorn with Faramir close behind.
Word: Tolkien has so many gorgeous words! But Nîn In Eilph is one of my favourites.

Place: Ithilien.
Person: Faramir. Or maybe Daeron - I always felt bad for him. My favorite lines of the Lay of Lethian are:
In sunshine and in sheen of moon
with silken robe and silver shoon
the daughter of the deathless queen
now danced on the undying green
half elven fair and half divine
and when the stars begin to shine
unseen but near a piping woke
in the branches of an oak
or seated on the beech leaves brown
Daeron the dark with ferny crown
played with bewildering wizard's art
music for the breaking of the heart
(sorry if the wording's off, I went from memory.)

Halbarad of the Dunedain
05-13-2005, 09:27 PM
Person Place and Word? My favorite person of all people tolkien would have to be.... lets see this one is hard... let me think... ummmm.... maaaaaaybe Halbarad of the Dunedain!? Heh, as I have said in previous posts, I like Halbarad because he is a great ranger, a great warrior, of the same nobal Edain race as Aragorn but not tied down to the rights of being King of Gondor and Arnor! Halbarad is a great ranger and a powerful person but still left in the backround... midning his own business... and I like that! Place would have to be... the Old Forest, whem I read the books and read the description of that forest it seems like such a great place to ranger around in, aside from all those menacing trees! Word? I have no clue... maybe... Elevinsess?(SP)

It's tough to name just one, but here's some of my faves from the book Return of the King
place - Ithilien (the way it's described reminds me of Sicily as shown in the movie The Godfather)
person - Faramir (his gentlility, ruggedness, and wisdom)
word - gollum
Gollum is the funnest (funnest, can I say that?) word to say...gollum!gollum!

Place: Probably Ithilien
Person: Beleg, Faramir
Word: elen
Cool man. It's almost the same. Gollum it a pretty cool word now that you mention it, but elen is still nicer.

Couldn't agree more (the book version thing). Its just sad to think they made Faramir suck in the movies. They didn't do his character any justice.

He's as noble and wary of the ring as Aragorn in the book, very brave and a great leader and yadayadayada....yeah, I kinda like him, hehe :o

Place - Numenor
Person - Elendil, of course :) Secondly Amandil, and in general the Lords of Andúnië
Word - this is tough! Quenya is beautiful and so is Adunaic. I love so many of the names and place names in both languages, and of course my favorites have to do with my favorite persons and places, how could they not? ;) Some of them would be:
Númenórë (fully inflected in Quenya)
Andúnië
Nimruzîr (Elendil's name in Adunaic, which i just love, but of course his elven name is the most beautiful ;))
I know i have others but these are the most important that immediately come to mind. :o
