I was wondering where would places like Angband and Doriath be if they had survived until the 3rd age?

In the Northwest, not the east, BoP. Other than that, yes. :)

I actually think I've seen a map somewhere that shows the two in comparison.

thats a good map,
although i thought where beleriand met eriador in the south,
the coast carried on all the was to gondor
although i may be wrong and i am often wrong :D

Yes well, In A Tolkien Beastiary by David Day, It has a COMPLETE map of Middle-Earth and the Undying Lands. and Angband and Doriath and all of those places are North of the Misty Mountains, The Shire, and Mirkwood.

I don't like David Day. He sucks stuff out of his thumb about Middle Earth.
