It's lovely. I have an illustrated version by Ted Nasmith. I just love his work.

What I love about it is that you get a chance to see Numenor!

Ted Nadsmith is my favorite tolkien artist, his work is always top notch and very detailed. Not to mention the flush and vibrant colors used in his landscapes.

The only pic I don't like by him is that one of Finrod sitting in Beor's camp when he first meets men. The colors and everything else in the pic are nice. It's just not a good Finrod.:D

Ultra-cool! I saw this on another site, but it was a smaller pic (at least on my screen) - so I didn't get near that level of detail. Marvelous! Great concept of Andunie on Numenor! :)

Hehe :D Its cool though to see how different artist depict Tolkien's heroes, villians and monsters. I also find it very interesting how those artist develop the different landscpaes, cities, and fortresses out of imagination.

Well for some reason I just made a post and it isn't showing up.. I forgot to mention that the artist who portray Tolkien's world have a great advantage thanks to Tolkien. As an artist myself, the description and detail given to the characters and land regions in all of Tolkien's works comes in handy.

The first edition cover featured Numenor too. But nowhere near the majesty that this cover pictures it.

I just checked his write-up and didn't see if it says, but I noticed something ELSE...

He said it was the new cover for an expanded edition of the Sil... does that mean *drool*... MORE STUFF?!?!? :D
