Ahh sorry, really don't agree! And actually it was mainly because of the line in your sig. It just struck as manipulative and unsensitive. Too soon, I think. :(

I thought this looked good....
But I have some moral standings--- rated R for sex and nudity? Not for me.
But it was a wonderful cast.

Brilliant movie! I laughed all the way through. And I liked the sentiments expressed in it.
Probably helps that I love about 90% of the actors in it from other things.

Some bits were funny, but somehow the sentiment came across as false and tacky to me. Waste of a good cast, IMO.

Sheesh Sunny, I think you killed a thread there!
What do people say to the charge it was insensitive... as Will Self had it 'the most manipulative piece of... since Lenni von Riefentrops 'Triumph of the Will'?

Bill Nighy's character was awesome, "dont ever buy drugs... be a rockstar and they give them to you for free" he was so funny,
But I have some moral standings--- rated R for sex and nudity? Not for me. you americans sure have some ****ed up rating system, its M over here (which means it recomended for people over 15 but anyone can go and see it) there was a bit of nudity, but only some breasts...
i didnt really expect (nor want) it to be some deep and meaningful display of relationships, i loved it because it was a light hearted comedy and it worked incredibly well as that, if you are looking for a proper portrayol of love then no dont watch it:rolleyes:

I thought it was a bit flat, actually. I adored Bill Nighy's character though. "Christmas is all around...." :D

Actually, now you remind me, I rather liked the aging rock star, but I'd forgotten about that aspect of it because I was so shocked by the naffness, and obscenity (in the 9/11 reference). Alan Rickman's charater was like watching Simon Schama (a very weird English historian, think of Alan Rickman in 'Love Actually'... oh. :p )

Bill Nighy was cool (always is - anyone watching "He Knew He Was Right" on BBC?) and Emma Thompson was pretty good too. But Martine McCutcheon - oh dear God  :D
