Hello everyone,

I've posted this in RPG but it strikes me there might be people interested in Tolkieneque battles that aren't necessarily interested in RPGs, so mods permitting I'll post it here too!

If anyone is interested I have written a very cheap-and-cheerful battle program that allows you to choose a Middle Earth army (21 types of unit), position it and give orders (10 available). It then simulates the battle, giving the result as Excel printouts.

If you'd like to have a go at testing it out, please e-mail me. Thanks!

Sounds good, id like to get involved! :). Can you send me it please? What did you make the program in anyway mate? Because my friend made a similer one in Visual Basic, where you control 'blocks' of armys and try and stratigise.

I'm embarrassed to say! I've adapted it from a very very old program I wrote in the early 90s (as a Naploenic wargame simulation), it's in an ancient old fashioned language called GW-BASIC that runs in DOS.

I'm finishing off the rule book and Order of Battle spreadsheet and will get something to you by the end of the week, thanks for your interest!

Ok, rules completed, order sheet designed, first battlefields done - the game is ready for play-testing if anyone else is interested

I'm interested too! I always like to see people's programming projects.

My email is also linked below, but just in case it goes awry, it's trillion13@hotmail.com

Cool!

Well i had a look into it like you said..

Looks promicing, did you write it all yourself?

Just need to get it up and running!

Yep I wrote it all myself (though I must admit the rules are based on a Napoleonic system by a bloke called Wessencraft and the unit characteristics are based on the writings of a certain Mr Tolkien, of course!)

Glad you think it's promising, drop me a line if anything needs clarifying.

I'd love to try it. How do I get it?
