LOL. It probably would work. If it did happen the baby would probably be deformed. Say for instance a Male Elve got it on with a female hobbit, her womb wouldnt be big enough to hold the baby.

Didn't Rana have a story about an elfit, or something? Ring a bell with any of the older members?

Oh I remember RE's elfit. She and FrodoFriend wrote a story about one on their spin-off messageboard. FrodoFriend has a pretty good fan fiction about it on fanfiction.net that takes place at the end of the Northern Kingdom.

What's her ff.net name? Or the link to the story. I'd like to read it.

Elfbits... heh heh. :D

She writes under the name MauraMellon or Mauramellon. The story is called 'nyareone' or something similar. Last time I checked it was still unfinished.

I would have thought it was obvious what a elf and hobbit's child would look like: a dwarf! :D The scary thing is, when you think about it, it makes sense. ;) :)

Hmmm... I read a fic where Gilmi fell pregnant to Legolas (yeah... I know...) and the result was... Elanor!

Think about it, kids.

surely the children would be Hobbels
would they all have walking problems...?

aki
06-23-2004, 03:00 AM
well, i think they would have feet as those of hobbits but they wouldn't have walking problems because they'd walk and run swiftly and lightly as elves do.

i'm just wondering how their sleeping and eating habits would be if an elf gets to marry a hobbit.

Nah... neither hobbits nor Elves are bearded. (Except Cirdan, but he was something of a fluke.)

Yeah but imagine it, a hobbit that gave birth to a child that was bigger than her!

Now I know for a fact what a hobbit/Elf half breed would look like.
Its actually pretty famous and I am dissapointed that none of you know.
It would obviously be, and I mean obviously,

A Smurf! (except for the blue)

so you mean, they would be shorter than hobbits?

Well yeah if they were just kids.

Haradrim
08-29-2004, 06:19 PM
well maybe they start out hobbit size but just keep growing and growing until they are elf sized. :)

Lefty Scaevola

Hmmm, hairy ears, anyone?

Haradrim
08-29-2004, 08:24 PM
maybe they have pointy ears with lots of hair. Small hairy elven feet and are short and skinny. That would amek a funny sight. ALmost like a gnome... but taller.

Telcontar_Dunedain
08-30-2004, 03:35 AM
They would be dwarves.

BeardofPants
08-30-2004, 05:10 AM
Well, we don't even know that elves had pointy ears...

*snicker* :D

Haradrim

Well T.D. maybe dwarves but all dwarves had beards and only few hobbits had beards and no elves had them.

Telcontar_Dunedain
08-30-2004, 07:12 AM
Okay dwarves without the beard and there are as many females as males.

Haradrim
09-02-2004, 02:03 AM
yep that would be it. Also I dont get howe there can be fewer females. Its scientifically improssible. its always 50/50 chance at boy or girl. Unless dwarves have a completely different way or reproducing.

Lefty Scaevola
09-02-2004, 09:23 AM
Many species have mechanisms that affect the ratio of male to female, although we can dismiss thoses used only in lower forms of life, like haploid/diploid amoung many insect (particularly colony type) species. Temperature is one common factor among vertabrates. There are mechanism both for affecting the ratio of male to female spermatazoa, and for differentially affect their sucees rate. Even in humans there is differential factor, that just happens to even out in practice. Male spermatazoa are faster, but female spermatazoa have better endurance. It is by no means a set 50/50.

Earniel
09-02-2004, 11:26 AM
I don't know how it goes exactly for humans but Lefty is right that it isn't always a 50/50 chance. Take tortoises, if the eggs get heated above a certain limit, nearly all the eggs will hatch as female. Same with certain breeds of frogs and crocodiles if I'm not mistaken. Therefore getting another distribution in sexes than 50/50 is not scientifically impossible.

But how tall would they be. Would they be he size of dwarves or half hobbit size and half elf size.

Fewin Greenleaf
09-06-2004, 01:21 PM
they'd be the size of hobbits while they're kids then they'd grow like the elves' size when they become adults...only, i don't know if they'd be wearing shoes...

Telcontar_Dunedain
09-06-2004, 01:31 PM
What would they lve in. An elf hole?

Fewin Greenleaf

elfbit hole.

Here is my complete and total description of a half hobbit/ half elf:
Baby is born hobbit size and grows like a hobbit until it eventually reaches elf size. It is chubby but not fat. It has tiny hairy feet that grow leathery soles and they dont wear shoes. They have pointy ears and huge mops of hair. They are good at sneaking around and they live forever.

Oh yeah when they die their leathery soul goes to the Hall of Mandos awaiting a new chance at life. :) :) :) :) :) :)

DÃ*s, the sister of Thrain is the only Dwarf-woman ever mentioned throughout Tolkien, so far as I know, someone will probably come along and tell me I am wrong, though!!

But wouldn't it be something like the situation with Elves and Men intermarrying? I mean, the Valar don't just let half-breeds go running around anymore. They have to choose to be one or the other--remember Elros and Elrond? So an elf marrying a hobbit would have to give up his/her immortality, and their children would just be tall hobbits. That's my opinion anyway. It might have even happened before. Maybe that's where the Bullroarer came from. Who knows?

Haradrim

I actually am going to have to change my amswer again. An elfbit would be a smurf. The blue comes from som ewierd mutation ciased frmt here interbreeding.

Hmm what about an orcbit?

ewww! :D :p
Well, elfbit sounds like a cute name....but I think they would be very different in personality from either elves or hobbits...maybe even kinda viscious....
Depending on their genes, they could be just as tall as hobbits, or elves, or somewhere inbetween...
Umm...if they are born hobbit size, assuming the female in the relationship is a hobbit, we're talking baby hobbit size...'cause, guys, there's no possible way a hobbit could give birth to a baby as large as herself. And babies don't get larger than the space there is available for them....which isn't really much. Even human babies are smaller than full grown hobbits...

One thing, I think if you crossed elves and dwarves you'd end up with any race in middle earth.

Another thing that just occered to me is this: Wouldn't they be giants? If they grew to the size of an elf they'd propubly grow bigger alot of the time (8 foot elfbits?).

They'd probubly have pointy ears.
