So, triggered by an excellent 'Garland' in this morning's Telegraph, I ask does anyone have favourite cartoons / cartoonists?

In history we're always studying David Low and Berhard Partridge, but I myself am a big fan (though some of the 70's american politics goes over my head...) of Doonesbury, by G.B. Trudeau.
Anyone have any favourites?

Another favourite is Matt... follow the large link labled 'MATT' (givaway? :D ) at:

Always been a big Carl Barks and Don Rosa-fan (Donald-cartoonists), even got his autograph on my copy of "Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck"! :D Other cartoons I'm fond of are Calvin and Hobbes, Tintin, Bone (got two-three albums), two Norwegian cartoons called Pondus and Nemi and read a lot of Elfquest. And of course there's Gary Larson. And the Phantom.

*suddenly got an urge to start reading cartoons again*

Edit: this may belong to the Entertainment forum though...

I like Gary Larson and "The Far Side." Nothing political, but one of those actually good ones that make fun of everyday things, plus cavemen and aliens and things in a twisted fun way. Unfortunately I can't find any website. Just trust me, he's good. :D

I love The Far Side! I also love Calvin and Hobbes.

For great non-syndicated cartoons, check out Ozy and Millie (http://www.ozyandmillie.org/) and Dragon Mango (http://www.dragon-mango.com/). They are genius!

I have loved "Peanuts" for years. Also "Garfield" (especially the early stuff), "Dilbert" (mirror of the corporate condition), "Pickles," "For Better or Worse," "Calvin and Hobbes," and the ever brilliant and twisted "The Far Side". And "Fox Trot," though I don't get it in my local paper.

And if you'd like to talk animated cartoons, are you Disney or Warner Brothers?

Me, I'm Warner Brothers. Most brilliant animated cartoon ever? "A Froggy Night." Chuck Jones was a genius!

Both Peanuts and Dilbert (the little I've read of him) are brilliant. And I used to watch both Disney and Warner Brothers (no discrimination), but I don't watch much TV at all anymore...

There are already threads out there for both comic strips and comic books, but since this isn't about comic books and the comic strip thread is almost two years old, I'll leave this open as long as no one drags the old one up. I'm getting soft in my old age. :p

Moving to the Entertainment forum.:)

Ah! 'Moving to the Entertainment forum :)'. The kiss of death for any thread! :p

I just thought I'd revive it to ask Dilbert fans if they had a copy of the 'Office Proofs' or a piece by some similar name. I read it somewhere and I can't find it. :( Things like proof by illogical reasoning and so on... v funny...
Help please. :)

I like the one with the penguin, but I forget its name. It was in the papers a decade or so ago and recently came back.
